Ball Joint DIN 71802 with Hexagonal Ball Stud – Type BJ1

BJ1 is the ball joint most frequently selected by our customers. It combines a ball socket with a threaded ball stud featuring a hexagon for tightening with a spanner. The joint allows angular movement between connected components in gas spring assemblies and other mechanical applications.

The ball socket connects through its female thread, while the ball stud provides a male threaded connection. BJ1 ball joints are supplied with an internal retaining ring and, depending on the variant, an additional safety catch to retain the ball stud in the socket. A nut for the ball stud thread can be supplied on request.

The BJ1 range includes variants with standard DIN 71802 dimensions, as well as selected dimensional variants outside the DIN range. Some of these are part of our standard product offering and are also used in our gas springs. Further variants are manufactured to order.

BJ1 Ball Joint DIN 71802 – Dimensions and Variants

The dimensional table lists the available BJ1 product codes, ball diameters, socket and stud threads, installation dimensions and widths across flats. The corresponding technical drawings show the dimensions and construction of each variant.

Products marked with an asterisk (*) are manufactured to order. Unmarked products belong to our standard product offering, which includes both DIN 71802 dimensional variants and selected dimensions outside the standard. The asterisk indicates made-to-order availability, not dimensional conformity with DIN 71802.

When selecting a variant, check both thread sizes and the installation dimensions, as these may differ between products with the same ball diameter.

BJ1 ball joint DIN 71802 with a hexagonal ball stud and safety catch

Materials and Available Versions

Standard BJ1 ball joints are manufactured from 11SMnPb30 steel with a white zinc-plated finish. Stainless steel versions are available on request.

Non-standard dimensions, fine-pitch threads, left-hand threads and alternative surface finishes can also be evaluated according to the application requirements.

Need Help Selecting or Customizing a BJ1 Ball Joint?

If you are unsure which BJ1 variant is suitable for your application, send us the required ball diameter, socket and stud thread sizes, installation dimensions, preferred material and quantity. Please indicate whether a nut is required for the ball stud thread.

MK Gas Springs also manufactures custom products beyond the variants shown in the catalogue. Send us a drawing, photo, dimensions and application requirements so that our team can help identify a suitable standard product or assess the feasibility of a custom solution.
