Ball Socket DIN 71805 – Type BH1

BH1 is a metal ball socket with an internal thread, used in gas spring assemblies and other mechanical connections requiring angular movement. It can be combined with a compatible ball stud or with one of our brackets with ball studs.

The internal thread connects the socket to a gas spring rod or another threaded component. An internal retaining ring holds the ball stud in the socket. Depending on the variant, an additional safety catch provides further retention. When selecting a socket, check that its mating dimensions are compatible with the ball stud and allow the required movement.

The BH1 range includes variants based on DIN 71805 dimensions, as well as versions adapted to specific installation requirements. These may differ in nominal ball diameter, internal thread size and installation dimensions.

BH1 Ball Socket DIN 71805 – Dimensions and Variants

The dimensional table lists the available BH1 product codes, nominal ball diameters, internal thread sizes and installation dimensions. The corresponding technical drawings show the dimensions and construction of each variant.

Products marked with an asterisk (*) are manufactured to order. Unmarked products belong to our standard product offering. The asterisk indicates made-to-order availability, not dimensional conformity with DIN 71805. Refer to the corresponding drawing for the dimensions of the selected product.

When selecting a variant, check the nominal ball diameter, internal thread size and installation dimension a. Dimension a is measured from the ball centre to the threaded end face of the socket. For use with a bracket with a ball stud, also check the available clearance and required range of movement.

BH1 ball socket DIN 71805 with an internal thread and safety catch

Materials and Available Versions

Standard BH1 ball sockets are manufactured from 11SMnPb30 steel with a white zinc-plated finish. Stainless steel versions are available on request.

Versions with non-standard dimensions, fine-pitch threads, left-hand threads or alternative surface finishes can be evaluated according to the application requirements. Please include the required material and surface finish when requesting a standard variant or a custom ball socket.

Need Help Selecting or Customizing a BH1 Ball Socket?

If you are unsure which BH1 variant is suitable for your application, send us the required nominal ball diameter, internal thread size, installation dimensions, preferred material, surface finish and quantity. Please indicate whether the socket will be used with a separate ball stud or a bracket with a ball stud. If available, include the dimensions or product code of the mating component.

MK Gas Springs manufactures ball sockets to customer specifications, including designs beyond the variants shown in the catalogue. Send us a drawing, photo, dimensions and application requirements. Our team can help select a suitable standard product or assess a custom version adapted to your installation.
