Hexagonal Ball Stud DIN 71803 – Type BS1
BS1 is a threaded ball stud with a hexagonal base for tightening with a spanner. It is used with metal and plastic ball sockets in gas spring assemblies and other mechanical connections requiring angular movement.
The ball fits into a compatible socket, while the male thread secures the stud to the mating component. When selecting a ball stud and socket, check that their mating dimensions are compatible and allow the required movement.
Most BS1 variants are based on DIN 71803 dimensions. The range also includes versions adapted to specific installation requirements. These may differ in thread size and length, ball diameter and height, and the diameter of the neck beneath the ball.
BS1 Ball Stud DIN 71803 – Dimensions and Variants
The dimensional table lists the available BS1 product codes, ball diameters, thread sizes, widths across flats and other installation dimensions. The corresponding technical drawings show the dimensions and geometry of each variant.
Products marked with an asterisk (*) are manufactured to order. The asterisk indicates made-to-order availability, not dimensional conformity with DIN 71803. Refer to the drawing for the dimensions of the selected product.
When selecting a variant, check the thread size and length, ball diameter and available installation space. The hexagonal base provides the tightening surfaces; its width across flats is indicated by SW in the table and drawings.

Materials and Available Versions
BS1 ball studs are typically manufactured from steel with a white zinc-plated finish. Stainless steel versions and steel versions with a black zinc-plated finish are also available on request.
The material and surface finish can be specified to suit the application. Please include these requirements when requesting a standard variant or a custom ball stud.
